The ladies interviewed on the CBSAtlanta story portrayed the neighborhood well by stating that we are well connected, are alert and aware and using common sense to protect ourselves. The victim is a very good example of a child that has been coached by parents to know what to do to escape an attack, and I would hope that all parents have had sessions with their children to prepare them for life in an urban environment. This can be done without scaring children – just making them aware of how to escape from a predator’s advances. Students at Morningside and SPARK schools already have had good training in using our 911 system – thanx to concerned parents, APD and APS to present these sessions.
