A huge thank you to the volunteers who give their Saturday mornings to care for these shared spaces- pulling weeds, spreading mulch, picking up litter, or lending a hand wherever it's needed- your time makes a real difference for everyone who enjoys our parks.

Join us this Saturday from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM for our next park workday!

Virginia-Highland has always been a neighborhood where neighbors take care of one another—and the places we share. Come spend a morning with us and help keep our parks welcoming, beautiful, and thriving for everyone.
Our August conversation turns the spotlight on a f Our August conversation turns the spotlight on a figure whose fingerprints are all over our streets, yet whose name few of us know: Nora G. Webb, the woman behind Webb Construction, a name that appears literally hundreds of times in 1910s-20s records connected to homebuilding, apartments, property transactions, and development in and around Virginia-Highland in the 1910-20s, shaping our neighborhood’s enduring character. Webb’s work was widely reported during her lifetime, yet today she is largely absent from the history of the neighborhoods she helped shape.

Local historian and researcher Kady DeWees will share the story of Webb Construction and the remarkable woman who ran it — a story of leadership, craftsmanship, and quiet trailblazing in the making of Virginia-Highland itself.

Whether you live in one of these historic homes, walk past them every day, or simply love a good untold story, we hope you will join us.

A woman leading a construction company in the 1920 A woman leading a construction company in the 1920s? Almost unheard of. She did it anyway.

Women had barely won the vote. They couldn't easily get a loan in their own name. The building trades were considered strictly a man's world. And yet Nora G. Webb led Webb Construction and helped raise many of Virginia-Highland's iconic Craftsman bungalows.

Hear her remarkable story with historian Kady DeWees at our first fall History Meeting.
