Welcome to Virginia-Highland!
NOTE: After reading the welcome message below, please be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter and safety reports, and tell us how you’d like to become involved.
On behalf of the Virginia Highland Civic Association (VHCA), welcome to what we think is Atlanta’s most livable intown community. The Virginia-Highland features a beautiful collection of historic homes, three separate and uniquely distinctive green spaces, and great schools, all surrounded by some of the city’s best shopping, dining and nightlife options. Click here for more detailed information on what we affectionately call ‘VaHi’.
To get a good overall feel for the neighborhood, explore the VHCA website. The site was extensively updated recently and is full of helpful information and useful resources, including:
- the latest news about neighborhood issues and events, plus a robust archive of past articles and newsletters
- information on the VHCA, including a list of board members and committees and minutes from previous meetings
- a section devoted to the history of The Virginia-Highland and current resident efforts to preserve that history as much as possible
- information on the planning and variance process and how it impacts residents who want to build or renovate in VaHi
Click here to access a form where you can tell us a bit about yourself so we can keep in touch with you, and provide you with information that matches your interests. VaHi residents tend to be active and involved, and the form lists committees you can request additional information on or sign up to help with. Whether it’s helping out at our largest annual fund-raiser Summerfest in June or our Tour of Homes in December – or something altogether different – we hope you choose to get involved.
We encourage you to sign up for our semi-monthly e-newsletter, The Voice. Published around the 1st and 15th of each month, The Voice is your go-to source for information on what’s happening in your neighborhood. The Voice is a compilation of news articles posted to the VHCA website, with unique messaging from neighborhood businesses interested in reaching out to VaHi residents.
Public safety is an important issue and the VHCA safety team publishes a semi-monthly report distributed to residents through a network of street captains. On the form below, please give us your street address so we can make sure to add you to the right street captain’s list.
The VHCA board of directors meets at 7 PM on the second Monday of every month at the public library on Ponce De Leon Avenue. Meetings are open to the general public and residents are encouraged to attend. We’d love to see you at the next meeting.
Once again, welcome to your new neighborhood. We’re sure you’ll enjoy living here as much as we do and we look forward to meeting you soon. And please don’t forget to sign up for The Voice.
– John Becker, VHCA Communications Chair
