George Zirkel

George moved to Atlanta from New York in 2009 and lives on Rosedale Drive with his husband JD Garcia.  Prior to joining Transaction Network Services (TNS) as Senior Vice President and Head of Global Payment Strategy a year ago, he worked at TabbedOut, a start-up advancing hospitality mobile payments.  When he’s not exploring one of the many new restaurants or attractions in Atlanta or tending his garden, he enjoys collecting Tibetan and Himalayan art and has amassed an enviable treasure trove of unique, historic pieces.

This year was his first year to serve on the Board of the VHCA and so an indoctrination to many new aspects of the community.  He served as Treasurer of the VHCA, which includes budget management, publication of the monthly P&L, cash flow management and filing of the annual tax returns.  He also joined a number of committees to help drive other important non-financial initiatives of the Board.  This year he worked with the Summerfest Team and was responsible for music programming and production on the three stages.  He is also Chair of the Other Fundraising Committee, which is researching adding another neighborhood event to the annual slate which currently includes Summerfest and Tour of Homes.

We all live in the Virginia-Highland because we know what a special place it is and so he would like to continue the work he started this year with a role on the VHCA Board to help this neighborhood of Atlanta be the place everyone wants to live, work and play.
