Dawn Shipp lives near Orme Park and she sent us a few photos this week of one of the neighborhood’s newest businesses. It’s not exactly brick-and-mortar, but her 6-year-old nephew Bennett Kane has opened his first lemonade stand – quite a colorful one, we must say – on Brookridge Dr. across from the park.

“Memolade! Memolade! Only twenty-five cents!” was the cry that could be heard by park patrons between 4-6 PM Thursday. Translation apparently wasn’t needed as folks flocked to the stand to sample Bennett’s cold beverage and tasty baked treats.

“Highly recommended…good pastries, deliciously cool lemonade, and outstanding service with a toothless smile,” said resident Tommy Manning. “And it’s for a good cause – Bennett’s saving for a German Sheppard.”

No word on regular hours of operation or whether Bennett has a website yet where customers can go to learn about weekly specials, but just keep your eyes peeled for his colorful stand next time you’re out and about near Orme Park.
