Another Alert VaHi Resident
I have been recently been told of a Greenwood Avenue dogwalker who spied a window peeper on St. Charles Avenue casing out houses. He called 911 to notify Zone 6 and hopefully thwarted some break-ins. Glad to hear neighbors are looking out for neighbors.
CourtWatch Report
Monday morning’s scheduled hearing for Timothy Kozak was a disappointment for we CourtWatchers, as his hearing was yet again postponed til a later date to September 28th. Remember, he was one of the robbing crew that looted and desecrated the Virginia Highland Church and the adjoining pre-school facility several months ago. Since I realize that…

Thanx to a posting by Tom Manning on the vhlist – there is an easy way to i.d. found dogs if they have a collar tag. Go to http://www.petdata.com/cs/ful/ Follow the instructions for entering the tag # and it will bring up the owner’s name and phone number.

I am sure most of you have noticed that this stadium is undergoing renovations and the entire stadium area is closed off. Please observe and respect the “No Trespassing” signs, as there are safety risks involved, so this is not an open exercise area now. APS has given warning that APD will be called for…
Monroe Drive Pedestrian Perils
This is an extremely dangerous street for pedestrian crossing – so please use extreme caution here. The following is a report from Major Calvin Moss of APD Special Operations – “On Wednesday, August 12, Zone 6 responded to an adult male pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Monroe and Dutch Valley Road shortly after 1:00…
VaHi Makes The Crime List
According to AJC research of APD statistics – we are number 15 on the list of the top 20 City of Atlanta neighborhoods with the most reported crime incidents so far in 2009. We are on this list almost solely due to the large number of “larceny from vehicle” reports. Though many of the victims…
National Night Out Recap and Thank You
As your neighborhood public safety chair, I wish to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to all the folks who gave us yet another successful community get-together. Yeah, I know it was hot and humid – it’s August in Atlanta – but at least we did not have a pop-up rainstorm. Thank goodness, because…
Citizens Police Academy
A new session of this eye-opening training class is forming now to start Tuesday evening, August 18th, and continuing for at least 10 weeks. This is a real hands-on experience to find out what our APD officers face every time they go on duty. I have the applications – safety@vahi.org
